I graduated in 2011, only to find that most “marketing” jobs are either telemarketing or a for marketing manager that need years of experience, even for an “entry level” job. My degree is Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Concentration in Marketing. In school they made it seem like there were all of these cool behind the scenes jobs like consumer research and copy writing. Those jobs do exist, but they aren’t common. They didn’t even teach us how to be salespeople in college, but there was an elective course on managing a salesforce. What was I supposed to do right after college? Bounce from unpaid internship to unpaid internship while living with my boomer parents that don’t understand how hard it is now?
COVID will cause me to lose my current job in a few weeks or months, so I am looking again. That whole field got wiped out so I need something new. For a few months after college I was a telemarketing loan originator doing cold calls but I didn’t meet my quota and I’m not doing that again. It has been so long since college I’ve forgotten a lot of what I learned.
What else can I apply for? What are some search terms for jobs? Paralegal? Loan processing? Title examination?
I’m about to give up on trying to be white or even pink collar. I may try to be a tradesman apprentice. A lot of desk jobs are going to be automated in 20 years or less anyway.
